The mighty Volga is Europe's longest river. Starting as a small stream, it runs through central Russia and into the Caspian Sea, making its way through 11 of the 20 largest Russian cities. It is considered to be Russia's national river and is often referred to as Mother Volga. This is the story of the river, its ecology, economy and hydrology as well as of the people who live on its banks. The film is presented with an English voice-over.
